We've always made our heating bags out of flannel and it is just that....a bag with nothing special like what's above so if you aren't feeling that crafty just sew up a bag for a hot bag or a cold bag. It's all good!

{Owl and Chick} Rice Heating AND Cooling Bag for Kids
You may already know about or have used a heating bag filled with rice...you know, you put it in the microwave and it heats up the rice (or corn) and you use it as a portable heating bag. I love mine and they really work. Well, I just found a post that talks about a Rice Cooling Bag. I had never heard of it. Instead of using a baggie filled with bits of ice to soothe the pain of a boo-boo you use a bag filled with rice that you keep in the freezer. The author calls the, Chick-sicles and they are very cute. She has generously provided the pattern for these cute chicks. You can get the instructions and pattern for this child-sized bag on her blog called Just Another Hang Up
These are her Owl Heating Bags. They measures 9" wide 11" tall. The instructions and pattern is also available on her blog. Click Here. So now that you have an Owl for a heating bag and a Chick for a cooling bag...You'll never mix them up!
