Use different colors of scrapbook to cut out the bat, (not just black) you could match the bat to the color of the book mark....plain paper or one with a design...it's all good!
Use a small paper punch to make two holes in the bat. Thread twine through as shown and loop behind the bookmark. We used the EK Success bat punch. You can get it at JoAnn's right now at 40% off which makes it $10 or $11.
In order to be able to wrap the twine around the bookmark without making the package bulge I cut a piece of cardboard 2 1/4" wide and taller than the bag. I inserted it into the bag and then tied the twine and bat around it. The bag still lays flat if you do it this way. Just trim the top of the bag down to about 2" above the bookmark and fold over the back. Tape or glue dots will afix it. (We used pretzel bags for the bookmarks packaging. You can find them at any craft store in the cake/candy decorating section--usually 20 for less than $2.00)
The bat on the right was scored and folded up like an accordion to give it dimension. The bat measures 2 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" tall when flat.
