School is just about out for the summer and time to gather fun ideas for activities to keep the kids busy. We've done it for you.....here's some ideas that are fun for kids and parents.
First let's talk about making summer food fun for the kids!
Popsicle cookies? How Fun! Find all the directions
Rainbow Food, What could be more fun than fruit on a stick?
Vegetable Flowers! Fun way to get the kids to eat their vegetables
Fruit in an ice cream cone? It makes eating fruit fun and it's a safe container for poolside-No glass to worry about.
Now what about some fun activities for the kids. We've found 100 free things for you and the kids to do this summer. Here's just a sampling of some of my favorites.
1. Blow up diet coke with mentos
2. Have a dress-up party
3. Have a Lego building contest
4. Melt and create with crayons
5. Make homemade ice cream
6. Make milk carton boats then find a pond or a river to float them
7. Make green slime (recipe included)
8. Have a pajama day (enjoy movies and popcorn-for a rainy day)
9. Play I spy in the neighborhood
10. Visit a fire department.
11. Take an "Alphabet tour"... again camera(s) in hand, journals - letter guides for younger kids - drive to town/city - begin with the letter a (Apple street) b (building) c (colosseum) d(dairy queen) e(eatery) you get the drift - when you are done - each child has a personal and creative alphabet memory book
12. Check your movie theatre for free summer movies (usually morning showings)
13. Make a star gazing map
These are just 13 of the 100 suggestions. There are 87 more fun activities, some with links to directions and pictures of the projects. When you decide which ones you want to do this summer make up a chart like the one below and mark them off as you do them.

Fill a jar with some of your favorite activities for this coming summer. Included in the printable are four different labels for a jar or box and 9 different sheets of 6 tags in 9 different colors.
