We've got another fun Halloween themed gift for teacher. I'm sure you've seen the pencils that are made out of a roll of Rolo candy. Well, how about making a Halloween pencil instead of a regular yellow pencil? That sounds like fun. A yummy treat in a cute package. Perfect for teacher! We've designed some tags for you to put on the Rolo Pencils (shown below) All our Halloween Freebies will be available next September (2013)
These candy pencils are pretty easy to make and the sky's the limit on how you design them. The paper only measures 4 1/4" x 3 1/4" and can be made out of a scrap of paper. The top, or the eraser on the top of the pencil is just a pink strip of pink scrapbook. If you don't have a Cricut or Silhouette to cut out the circle for the top of the eraser, just trace the top of the Rolo roll for the circle. All this info is in the YouTube tutorial video. Click HERE to see it.
Archivers scrapbook paper is 50% off right now and they still have Halloween paper. Besides the Rolo candy, which we found at 79 cents, you may already have the rest of the supplies shown above. Hershey candy kisses are $3.28 at Walmart. Shopko puts them on sale regularly for only 2.99. They will most definitely go on sale between now and Halloween.
You can use scrapbook paper that is one color or has a design, either one looks great. I like to ink my designs. I think it gives the edges definition but this project can certainly be done without inking. I used brown ink for this project. I just purchased the Martha Stewart foam pouncers and I love using them when inking.
This tool makes it so easy to ink your projects. Five different sizes are included. The price is $5.99 but use a coupon and get it for less. (I bought mine at JoAnn's)
The Rolo pencils fit nicely inside the pretzel bags. We bought ours at Walmart, 20 bags for $1.76. Add a bow and our tag and you're done.

You can also just add a tag instead of putting them inside a bag and it's just as cute. In the photo you will see a tag cut out in the 1 1/2" scallop paper punch and the 2" scallop paper punch.

We put together these tags for the Rolo pencils, although you can use them for Halloween gifts for family and friends and even trick or treaters or as for a party favor.
Now, you'll want to know how to put together this sweet gift for teacher! We found a video tutorial on YouTube, the instructions were very good. Click HERE to see the video tutorial. But if you prefer a photo tutorial click HERE
To make sure you don't miss any of our Freebies, head over to our Facebook Page and "Like" us. We'd love for you to follow our blog too. We will "lay to rest" all of our Halloween freebies November 1st. They will return Fall 2013.
Here's one way to wrap up the Rolo Pencils. I had a gable box that was a good size for the Rolo pencils but I didn't want the flaps so I just folded them down inside the box as shown above. The box measures 4" across, 2.5" deep and 2.5" tall.
I added in some crinkle paper for stability and that allowed the pencils to stand up nicely.
You could add the tags to the pencils at this time or just leave them off.

Is the eraser pink card stock? Can't tell. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello,
Deleteyes the eraser paper is pink card stock. We inked it with red ink on the edges but you can leave off that step. Did you get your free tags for the Rolo pencil? If not just leave a message on our facebook page and we'll send it to you www.facebook.com/itswrittenonthewall.
I'm a follower of your blog but don't have Facebook. I would love your Rollo pencil tags.
